!!Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!!
2nd Annual Copenhagen Cup 2010, July 9th-11th
The 2010 World Championships in England are just around the corner, but first… The second annual Copenhagen Cup is being held July 9th-11th. This year we are in the unique position of hosting the tournament just before the World Championships in England. Because of this situation we are going to do things a little differently this year. We are taking this opportunity to provide a competitive tournament as a training/preparation for the World Championships; therefore we are extending invitations to all of the National Teams competing in the Worlds in England. We will only be accepting the first 8 nations that sign up for this year’s Copenhagen Cup, so act fast.
This will be a great opportunity to check out some of the competition you will be facing in England, as well as fine tune some of the mechanics your team has been working on. For those of you traveling from overseas, this gives you the opportunity to get close to England and get over any jetlag/time-difference issues your players may face in the opening games of the Worlds. The rest of us are so close that it would be foolish to miss out on this great opportunity to get a few extra competitive games in before going to England.
In addition to transforming the Copenhagen Cup into a prep tournament for the Worlds, we are also adding a women’s tournament. We will only be able to accept a total of 8 women’s teams, so act fast before the spaces fill up.
Coaches: this will provide you with a last minute chance for tune ups of plays you have been working on, conditioning and a final chance to see your team in action. It is also an opportunity to help your players develop a stronger bond and work on team work, in preparation for the fierce competition coming up in England. If you are not planning on attending the World Championships or you are bringing a women’s team, this will be a great chance for you to see your troop in action against top-tier international teams and asses the strengths and weaknesses of your squad.
Players: if your national team is not able to commit to this years Copenhagen Cup, it is still possible to sign up as an ‘all-star’ team from your country or as individual players! Gather as many players from your National Team, or Club Team, as possible and fill the voids with reserve players or up-and-coming stars that would greatly benefit from this opportunity. If you are interested as an individual you are still strongly encouraged to contact us as we will be putting together a melting-pot team from players of all nations that do not have a team that is signing up. We will have many international players living in Denmark/Sweden, not associated with their National Teams, interested in competing!
Last years Copenhagen Cup was a great success, we had teams from Canada, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. The Ottawa Black Sheep from Canada came away with the trophy from last year’s inaugural Copenhagen. Another Canadian team; Dynasty, will also be participating in this year’s tournament along with the Danish National team. This years Copenhagen Cup will also offer mini-camps/games during and after game play, with individual awards in various skill categories. Our hope is to keep all players working on their skills and involved throughout the tournament, in order to be better prepare for the weekends competition and the Worlds!
